Boosting Immunity

I have always been a person who got sick a lot. As a young kid I got so many ear infections that I had to have tubes put in my ears. I missed so much school that an officer was sent to my house to make sure I wasn’t being abused. (I wasn’t abused, my mom is amazing). Whether it’s a cold, a viral infection, or something more serious- I get sick a few times a year without fail. Quite recently, I got sick again. I denied it for a few days but ended up at the doctor to find out I had bronchitis, a double ear infection and the flu.

This was it for me. I am sick of getting sick. After I left the doctor, I took to Facebook to ask my friends what they do to boost their immunity. (More to come in a later post about why I didn’t just ask my doctor what I could do). Here are all of the comments I got back:


 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Overall, this is what I gathered from the reponses:

  1. Supplements – these can include a multivitamin, echinacea, a probiotic

  2. Elderberry seems to be where it’s at

  3. Sleep is hella important

  4. Staying hydrated is key

  5. Wash your dirty ass hands

 

Now, from that I have created my own little regimen. It includes these things:

  1. Supplements daily – these include a multivitamin, vitamin a, echinacea with vitamin c, a probiotic, [zinc, calcium and magnesium], as well as elderberry syrup (1/4 tsp a day)

  2. 4 liters of water daily

  3. A juice at LEAST every other day, if not everyday

  4. I am also in bed by 9:30 on work nights. I do not sleep well as it is, so I am trying to remain as consistent as possible.

 

It has been a little over a week since I started all the vitamins and what not. I don’t know if it is just a placebo effect or what, but I am feeling good, so I am gonna take it.
