The Popular Diets of 2010

Losing weight can sometimes be expensive. Trying diet after diet does not only drain your pocketbook but it can also lead to frustration, binge eating and unhealthy habits. It is therefore essential to find a diet that is not only proven, but is appropriate to your needs, budget, and lifestyle. Some of the most popular diets that are worth looking at are the following:

Medifast

Medifast is one of the simpler diets to follow, especially if you hate figuring out what to eat on your own. It comes in pre-packaged foods, which aren’t the best tasting things you will ever eat, but at least they work. Medifast can get pricey but if you use a Medifast coupon code on your order it will at least take some of the bite off the price for you. My aunt used Medifast recently to lose a lot of weight so this is a diet that I know works very well first hand.

Jenny Craig and the Zone Diet

These types of diets require the purchase of food from the companies themselves in order to ensure caloric intake and portion control. All of the plans can be costly.  However, if substituted for a lifestyle that used to include dining out and fast food meals, it may not be that much of a financial load. Jenny Craig and the Zone diet have the benefit of teaching portion control for those who use the diets for awhile and venture out on their own.  However, sticking to the plans permits the additional benefit of meeting with counselors, having calories counted by the company monitoring food intake and keeping to a strict diet regimen.

Weight Watchers

This is also a well-known diet that promotes its own meals for purchase, but more highlight is put on the point system of counting calories. Clients pay for meetings, but the knowledge gained regarding spacing out meals and monitoring the nutritional intake involved is a tool that can be utilized well as an official member.

South Beach and Atkins Diet

Due to results that show consumers losing initial weight quite rapidly, these diet plans have increased in popularity in the last decade. The quick loss happens due to the strict nature of the diets and the focus on consuming proteins.

Mediterranean Diet, Volumetrics, and Sugar Busters Diet

These diets each take distinct approaches to their diet suggestions, which work only if the consumer has an inclination for that particular lifestyle modification. The Mediterranean, for instance, focuses on cheap and easy meals emphasizing on vegetables, fish, poultry, dairy, whole grains, nuts and olive oil. Volumetrics concentrates on fiber-heavy foods and a vigilant eye on a variety of vitamins and minerals.  It also eliminates all packaged foods and sugar/fat-based items. Sugar Busters reduces carbohydrates in the diets excluding sugar, potatoes and white bread.

The diets included in this list are meant to provide consumers an idea of what works for most people. However, each one still needs to be evaluated for appropriateness as it concerns every individual.
